Houses of Parliament visit
We were shown around by Richard Harrington our local MP. Did you know:
The Queen isn’t allowed in the House of Commons.
- Only elected members can sit on the seats.
- Years ago the Speaker’s chair would convert into a toilet because he wasn’t allowed to leave the room.
- The distance between the two sides of the House is two and a half sword lengths so that they couldn’t fight.
